Web-Based Resources

  • Jefferson College History Center Probate Index: (Accessible only in Mozilla Firefox.) Created with the Exhibit 2.0 API, this index currently lists Probate records for Jefferson County residents up to the mid-20th century. The index is searchable, and results can be filtered by sex and legal status. As more metadata is gathered, we hope to be able to filter items by document type as well as date.

  • WebQuest: Eugene Field House and St. Louis Toy Museum: a suggested research project for high-school-aged students concerning the impact of Dred Scott v. Sandford on the lives of the Scott family, the Field family, and antebellum St. Louis.

  • Library Wiki @ Jefferson College: Built with Wikispaces (an open source, Web-based service), this wiki was built to give students a a guide to using the Library's newer or less-understood tools such as electronic books and appropriate use of Internet search engines. It is also designed as a troubleshooter or help page for Library users.

  • Google Docs Spreadsheets: These items were created for my practicum as well as for the Jefferson College Library users.

Created for an adult computing class at the University City Public Library, where I did my Master's practicum, this GoogleDocs presentation is meant to supplement a very brief lecture and series of workshops designed to acquaint library patrons with the basics of computer systems and software.

Originally made to supplement our 10 minute information sessions, these brief slideshows can also be found on Library wiki.
